Cathcart Crosswalk Controversy
Since the early 1990's, there have been calls for a crosswalk on King Edward Avenue at Cathcart Street. A crosswalk was part of the proposed King Edward Avenue Community Improvement Plan developed at the time. Later, plans for the underground utilities were included by consultants in the King Edward Avenue Renewal Environmental Assessment report. The Task Force fought a hard battle between 2007 and 2009. Despite poor evidence, councillors were forced to side with the transportation pseudo-experts at the City.
